Merry Christmas

It wasn't Christmas yet, and I knew that, but my baby was crying. We were in the hospital, it was the middle of the night, and I needed a song. I don't even necessarily care for the song normally. But I was singing it to my baby boy that night.

...Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?

This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

….Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?

And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

….Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?

Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?

This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

As I sang the bits and pieces from my memory's sketchy “Christmas song file,” I felt a kindred spirit with Mary as I rocked my little one.

How strange to think that the baby Jesus, small and human, just like my baby, was born to save the world -was born to die.
I hugged my tiny baby a little tighter that night, and thanked God for loving the world enough to let His Son come to earth.
Being a momma gives a whole new light to God's love for us!

My friend Liz brought this verse to my attention during one of our discussions....

Isaiah 66:13a "As one whom his mother comforts, So I will comfort you;

Very similar to my love for my son, is God's love for me.... Only so much greater!

I hope this Christmas, I can have more of God's love for others!

Merry Christmas, and may you find a new realization of God's love this Happy Season!
